Here’s a list of 50 frugal fall recipes that are budget-friendly and perfect for enjoying the season.
I have tried to find recipes that are close to what I make at home. I have only included recipes my family would actually eat.
I am not a recipe blogger and usually adjust all recipes for what I like. I rarely follow a recipe 100% – especially after the first time making it.
Don’t be afraid to change things up and use the recipe more as a framework.
Enjoy!
Soups & Stews:
- Chicken and Noodles – my favorite! Plus it’s easy and can throw it all in the crockpot. It’s not the classic version that you are imagining. It’s basically this version from Leen Cuisine. Put it on top of mashed potatoes and add some corn and it’s perfect for a cool rainy day.
- Potato Soup – another favorite and easy crockpot soup. This is the recipe I use but I don’t use very much ranch dressing. I also use real bacon–which adds so much flavor!
- Vegetable Soup – A hearty soup packed with seasonal veggies. Check out this recipe from Cooking Classy.
- Tomato & Red Pepper Soup – roasted red peppers, tomato, onion, and garlic. It’s a new level to the traditional tomato soup. Check out this recipe from Cookie and Kate.

- Meatloaf – We actually eat this all year but it’s a nice cozy meal when it’s cold outside. I love it smoked and I add minced fresh onion to it–and of course extra cheese! I use the Pioneer Woman’s recipe here.
- Fried Chicken – I cook this for holidays instead of chicken. I don’t follow a recipe but the secret is to use lots of seasoned salt, garlic and onion powder in the flour mixture and to not overcook the chicken. I make mashed potatoes, homemade mac-n-cheese, gravy an cream corn with it. It’s my family’s favorite meal.
